Valhalla

Jurgen and Ian

This page is dedicated to those brothers who have moved on to the next realm and was started to commemorate Jurgen Van Hemeldonck, the first of us to leave to ride in Valhalla.

Ian Pitman

Born in Kent on 27th July 1965 and died on July 7th 2004. He leaves behind his son Callum and brother Mark – also a Commitatus member.

Ian was a founder member of the club and will leave a space that can never be filled.

The funeral took place on 23rd July at Eltham Crematorium, south east London.

The hearse left the Phoenix pub in Dartford and was followed on the 8 mile journey to the crematorium by around 180 bikes, followed by more cars. There were approximately 400 present for the service, an Odinic ceremony performed by Micky, a fellow club member and Andy, a friend of Ian’s for many years.

Ian was carried into the church by his brothers to the sound of ‘Sweet Home Alabama’, his favourite song. The service concluded with Lynrd Skynyrd’s ‘Free Bird’.

Ian’s ashes are to be scattered in the garden of rest at St Paulinas Church in Crayford, a beautiful 11th century church local to his family and close friends.

We gave Ian the send off that we and all who knew him know he would have loved, thank you to everyone who made the day fitting for such a great man.

Rest easy brother.

Jurgen Van Hemeldonck

Born in Brecht on July 8th 1966, died on June 24th 2004 after a car accident in Lier near his home in Hulshout, Belgium.

He leaves behind his beloved partner Zetje Van Eeckhout and his 3 children, Dorothy, Damon and Bruce.

The service took place on Saturday 3rd July at St Matthews church.

Over 80 bikers from clubs across Belgium and England (including Chosen Few MC Belgium, Bandidos MC, Last Biker Belgium, Harley Riders Brabant, Mjolnir Brotherhood, Iron Horses MC, Brotherhood MC, Firebirds, MC Heracles) came to pay their respects. Commitatus would like to thank all who attended.

After the service the coffin was carried through to an avenue of revving bikes to leave for the crematorium.

Jurgen’s message

That’s it, the time has come, it’s time to go……
Damn, and I still had so many things to do, Apparently I’m needed elsewhere.
And saying no, mmmmm……?
But don’t worry, everything is Ok
Don’t you dare forget I lived!

Yet there are still a few things I need to say:

-Doll/Sweetie – at times we couldn’t be with each other, but we could never be without each other either.
-Doro, Bruce, Damon – Live! Live for me and never look back!
-Yelle – there’s a new star in the sky.
-Louke – Don’t worry, I’ll have fun with Jean
-Commitatus – I’ll always be there!
-My Friends – Have a good one on me, no need to say anymore.
-Poneke – Zetje will now give you candy bars.
